What We Do

Ability Advocates is a Program Approved Service Agency (PASA), which is an agency that has been approved to provide direct community-based services to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities approved for Medicaid waiver services.


Ability Advocates provides approved services through the Home and Community-Based Services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (HCBS-DD,), Supported Living Services (HCBS-SLS), and Children’s Extensive Services (HCBS-CES). 

Our Services

Specific Services Offered

  • Residential Habilitation Services and Supports help you stay safe and healthy and teach skills needed to live in the community. Services include assessment and evaluation, training materials, transportation, fees and supplies. You can live in:

    • Individual Residential Services and Supports (IRSS) that has up to 3 people living together

  • Provides assistance for individuals to participate in community activities that build relationships and natural supports in the community. Provides assistance to enable them to integrate into their residential community and access naturally occurring resources. Community connector services:

    • Supports the abilities and skills necessary to enable the individual to access typical activities and functions of community life.

    • Utilizes the community as a learning environment to assist the individual to build relationships and natural supports in their residential community.

    • Are provided to an individual in a variety of settings in which they interact with individuals without disabilities.

  • Mentorship services help promote self-advocacy through giving instructions and experiences, modeling, and advising.

  • Provides short-term care in the person’s home, in the community, or in the private residence of the respite care provider.

    Individual Respite: One on One, 10 hours or less (in a 24hr period)

    Individual Day: One on One, more than 10 hours (in a 24 hour period)

  • Provides assistance (hands on or cuing) for basic household tasks. Can include:

    • Laundry

    • Cleaning, Changing Linens

    • Folding, Ironing, Organizing Clothes

    • Dusting Furniture, Shelves, Surfaces

    • Vacuuming Carpets, Throws, Rugs

    • Washing, Mopping, Cleaning Floors

    • General Bathroom Cleaning

    • General Kitchen Cleaning

    • Cleaning Windows (Indoors)

    • Trash Removal

    • Sorting and Organizing

  • Provides support to complete daily activities of living in order to optimize independence, health, and wellbeing. Can include:

    • Assistance with Self-Care: Bathing/Washing, Dressing, Eating/Feeding, Grooming, Bowel/Bladder Care, Personal Hygiene, Skin Care

    • Medical Appointment & Scheduling Assistance

    • Money Management

    • Menu Planning

    • Grocery Shopping
